America's most historic city brings its academic energy and sports passion to the World Cup. Gillette Stadium is in Foxborough, about 30 miles south of Boston. The New England Revolution's growing soccer community adds to the atmosphere.
Logan Airport (BOS) is close to downtown with easy Blue Line access. Gillette Stadium is 30 miles south — commuter rail from South Station on match days, or rideshare/driving. The T (subway) covers Boston well. Plan extra time for stadium transport — there's no nearby rail station normally.
Stay in Boston for the city experience. Back Bay and the Seaport District are upscale. Cambridge (Harvard/MIT) offers alternatives across the river. Foxborough has limited hotels near the stadium. Providence, RI (30 min from Gillette) is an affordable alternative.
Seafood is king — New England clam chowder and lobster rolls are mandatory. The North End (Little Italy) has amazing Italian food. Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are touristy but fun. Cambridge has excellent international dining around Harvard Square.
Fan zones likely on the Boston Common or along the Harborwalk. The Seaport District has the newest bars and restaurants. Fenway area pubs will be packed. Patriot Place at Gillette Stadium is a full entertainment complex for match days.
Boston is one of the safest major US cities. The T is safe. Walking the Freedom Trail is a great way to see the city safely. Summer weather is pleasant — warm but not extreme. Occasional thunderstorms.
The Freedom Trail is free and walkable. Harvard and MIT campuses are open to visitors. Dunkin' is a religion here. Boston accents are real and charming. The city is very walkable — you don't need a car except for Gillette. Whale watching tours from the harbor are spectacular.
